A Ministry Of Hope for Iraqi Christians in Jordan
Dear Friends,
The ministry to Iraqi refugees in Jordan began in 1991 during the first Gulf War. As thousands of Iraqis, many of them Christians, fled their homes seeking safety and hoping to one day resettle in other countries, the Lord opened the door for this ministry through one of our partner churches in Jordan. More than three decades later, Christian Mission to Gaza remains grateful to partner in this work, continuing to share the hope of Christ with Iraqi refugee families.
Our desire is to help people hear the Gospel, grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, and be spiritually prepared for the next chapter of their lives, whether that is in Jordan or wherever God leads them. By His grace, this congregation has become far more than a place of refuge. Since its beginning, the Lord has raised up more than forty pastors and ministry leaders from among these refugees. Many now pastor churches, lead Arabic-speaking Bible studies, and plant churches in the countries where they have ultimately resettled.
Today, we minister regularly to approximately 700 Iraqi refugee families. Every Tuesday evening, nearly ten buses bring families from across Jordan to gather for worship, biblical teaching, prayer, and fellowship.
In addition to this weekly gathering, a smaller congregation and several home Bible studies meet on a regular basis throughout the year, providing ongoing discipleship, encouragement, and community for refugee families.
Our ministry seeks to meet both spiritual and practical needs. Five faithful local leaders regularly visit families, pray with them, encourage them, and help them grow in their faith. Every quarter, families receive food coupons based on household size. Through our ministry partner, they also have access to a free medical clinic twice each week, including physician visits and medication. Over the years, we have helped families establish small businesses, while visiting ministry teams have served through eyeglasses clinics, trauma counseling seminars, and other outreach opportunities.

A Story of Courage: Taybah's Journey
Behind every family we serve is a story of unimaginable hardship and an opportunity for God's love to bring hope.
Taybah Dawlat Aziz Yousif Ismail (Zain) is a Yazidi woman from Sinjar, Iraq. Like countless others, her life was forever changed by violence and persecution at the hands of ISIS.
Her family endured heartbreaking loss. Her husband was shot in the head after refusing to surrender his belongings and money, leaving him permanently disabled. Her brothers were also killed, and Taybah and her children were forced to flee their home in search of safety.
The suffering did not end with their escape. Taybah was kidnapped by ISIS militants, where she endured months of physical abuse, humiliation, and captivity before eventually escaping. Even after reaching Jordan, she continued to face tremendous hardship. She was later threatened and extorted by a relative, demanding money she did not have. While traveling to an embassy appointment as part of the refugee resettlement process, she was struck by a speeding vehicle in a hit-and-run accident. The collision caused the loss of her unborn child and left her with severe pelvic injuries that required surgery. Today, she still lives with chronic pain and ongoing medical challenges.
Yet despite everything she has endured, Taybah continues to seek hope for herself and her family.

Through faithful local leaders, Christian fellowship, practical assistance, medical care, and the hope found in Jesus Christ, refugee families discover they are not forgotten.
