Holding On to Hope

Before the war, life for this Christian family in Gaza was simple and joyful. The father worked at a local church. The mother taught at a cultural center. Their children were thriving, attending school, playing basketball and soccer, reading books, and drawing. Every evening, the family would reunite after work and school, share a home-cooked meal, and visit relatives or go to the market.

Then everything changed.

The day they fled their home was filled with panic. Explosions grew louder. Neighbors ran in every direction. They grabbed only the essentials—important documents, a few clothes, and food. The children clutched their favorite toys and schoolbooks as they left behind everything they’d ever known.

They now live in a church that has become a shelter for the displaced. Conditions are dire. Food is scarce, clean water is limited, and the cost of even the most basic supplies is out of reach. Like many others, the family has endured loss, illness, and deep psychological trauma. Yet amid all this, they cling to hope.

“We believe in our Savior Jesus Christ. We trust that after every darkness, there is light.”

Their greatest challenge now? Helping their children feel safe.

“How do I comfort them when I’m shaking too? How do I give them a sense of normal when nothing is normal anymore?”

Their dream is simple:

“That our children grow up in peace, get an education, laugh without fear, and chase their dreams freely. I believe in them. I believe they are the generation of change.”

This is just one story. Christian Mission to Gaza is currently supporting about 200 Christian families in Gaza, each carrying their own pain, trauma, danger, worry, anxiety, resilience, and hope. While their stories share many similarities, their needs are not all the same. Some families have lost everything. Others are in slightly more stable situations but still face daily uncertainty.

With your help, we’re coming alongside them with emergency assistance of $500 per family to help cover food, shelter, and essential needs.

Would you consider making a gift today? Together, we can continue showing up in love, in faith, and in action.
